- Since 2014 each driver has a life-time fixed start number except the current world champion who may decide to use '1' as start number.
- All engine specs in 2018 are turbocharged 1.6 litre V6
- All cars may use KERS - Kinetic Energy Recovery System - in 2018.
- Additional a supplementary power supply will be introduced by the heat-based ERS - Energy Recovery System - that captures waste heat and stores to an electrical unit device.
This device is connected directly to the drive train in combination with KERS and will give an additional 161 hp for thirty-three seconds per lap.
- Pirelli will be the sole tyre supplier for all cars in 2018.

team/constructor changes in 2018 |
- After the GP of Hungary the Sahara Force India went into administration and Lawrence Stroll acquired the team and renamed it to Racing Point Force India.
The name Force India needed to remain in the name, because FIA does not allow to change the name of the car during season and the name of the car MUST be part of the team name.
After some discussions they were allowed to participate the remaining season (starting with the GP of Belgium) under the new name and are also allowed to receive bonus payouts
in 2019, but ONLY for all points achieved in the remaining 9 races. Thus all already achieved points of the former Sahara Force India team have been deleted,
so Racing Point Force India starts from scratch.
